BACK TO SCHOOL WITH OFCCP -- Listening Session with Director Shiu
About 150 members of the academic community shared questions and concerns with Director Shiu on Thursday, September 8, via conference call. Representatives from the academic community discussed the challenges they face in applying the OFCCP regulations in an academic environment. As federal contractors, academic institutions are required to comply with the same regulations as supply and service contractors, however, due to the presence of student workers, issues of tenure, etc., academic institutions often find it challenging to implement the regulations. The call was an opportunity for callers to speak directly with Director Shiu about those concerns. Also on hand were several high level OFCCP officials including: Debra Carr, Director of Policy, Planning and Program Development; Pam Coukos, Sr. Program Advisor; Thomas Dowd, Director of Program Operations; Gilberto Garcia, Branch Chief for Enforcement & Appeals; Javid Kaiser, Director of Statistical Analysis, Donna Lenhoff, Senior Civil Rights Counsel; Parag Mehta, Special Assistant to the Director; and Brenda Stewart, Program Analyst. If you would like a closed captioned transcript of the call, please contact Marilynn Schuyler at Schuyler@SchuylerAAP.com.
